our saturday mornings... a fun cultural experience

We've been hopping around trying to find a ballet class that works for us.  One that doesn't just consist of an hour and a half of stretching and one that isn't on Sunday evenings during dinner time.

With the help of a friend, we found a teacher who created a class for us on Saturday mornings.  JUST FOR US!  We are so grateful, and it is exactly what I was looking for.  Actually, much better than I could have possibly expected.

Our goal was to find at least 4 girls to commit to the class, which wasn't hard to do.  My kindergarten class has plenty of girly girls.  :)

We now have 6 girls and it is just the most precious sight to see on a Saturday morning...  for several reasons.  First, it's more dancing and less stretching, so the girls are smiling and giggling constantly rather than griping and groaning because the stretching hurts.  It's very close to where we live (about an 8 minute taxi ride).  It's near a yummy pizza and pasta restaurant and right next to Carrefour, which is convenient for grocery shopping.

But what I love most about Saturday mornings is that it is always a very cultural experience for us!  There are 2 American girls (the other little girl just moved here from Texas, too!), 2 Filipino girls, an Indonesian-American, and a British-Canadian.  The teacher is Chinese and the entire class is instructed in Chinese!  I've never seen so much diversity in such a small setting.

And I just leave every week astounded by the mom conversations we mothers have while our little ballerinas are dancing their hearts out.  When I view Saturday mornings through my cultural lenses...  this is really Cool Stuff.
